Welcome to the first December 2019 Open Discussion. In this topic-driven series, you can post up anything that you happen to like about video games or other mediums and face no censorship when doing so. This discussion-based series changes every week and mainly revolves around video game culture.
The Open Discussion arrives every Sunday on this site and explores a variety of topics that include technology, interactive entertainment, politics, and other mediums. Moreover, like any other post on this site, no comment will face any form of censorship.
In addition to the above, if one of your comments face a form of censorship — in that it’s removed or blocked — let us know so that we can address the situation and restore your comment. Due to the acts of WordPress and Disqus, a post of yours might face problems but, as mentioned above, shoot us a message, and we’ll try to straighten things out.
With all of that said, this Open Discussion is about DRM and your thoughts on the tech being used in the past and even to this day. Additionally, you can share your thoughts on the anti-tamper tech and express your stance on it, too.
Furthermore, if you have no idea what DRM is, website digitalguardian.com explains:
“Digital rights management can help companies control access to confidential information. They can use these technologies to restrict access to sensitive data, while at the same time allowing it to be shared securely.”
Also, cnet.com chimes in with:
“DRM exists, mainly, to keep content safe and minimise piracy. In the process, it manages to be an irksome, cumbersome beast that often hinders legitimate buyers from full use of the product in question.”
If you have something else on your mind and wish to share it on this Open Discussion, you are free to post it up here. This means that content or stuff unrelated to DRM can be shared without being moved or taken down.
This week’s music selection is Epic Pinball’s Super Android:
