Death Stranding For PC Rated By ESRB, Release Still Set For Summer

Although Kojima Productions seems to be done with Death Stranding and is working on a new concept for an unannounced project, the ESRB has rated Death Stranding for PC. The timed PS4 exclusive will hit Steam this summer and, finally, has a rating for PC goers.

Whether Death Stranding boils your blood or is a breath of fresh air, folks will be able to experience Kojima’s work on PC during the late second quarter or sometime during the third quarter of this year.

Thanks to the ESRB, we learn that the game has a rating (which is the same as its PS4 counterpart) to prep for its summer release. With that said, the entertainment rating board’s official website contains the following information:

“This is an action game in which players assume the role of a courier (Sam Porter) transporting packages across a post-apocalyptic environment. As players traverse mountainous terrain, they can be attacked by human settlers and ghostly apparitions. Players use machine guns, grenades, and shotguns to kill enemies; firefights are highlighted by realistic gunfire, large splashes of blood, and cries of pain. Cutscenes contain more intense instances of violence: a man and an infant shot—the latter, accidentally (blood splatter appears below the infant); a character shooting a comatose patient in the head; a man stabbing himself repeatedly in the distance. A handful of scenes depict a character with his buttocks exposed. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the dialogue.”

Five years ago, Kojima noted that Death Stranding would come to the house of PC, which was later re-enforced by 505 Games co-founder and CEO Raffi Galante in a press release:

“We are extremely excited and honored to be working with the supremely talented team at Kojima Productions and to bring Death Stranding to PC gamers around the world. Death Stranding will take gamers through a completely original experience that will delight PC gamers everywhere.”

Although you could see this move coming a mile away, there were some PlayStation fans in denial. Regardless, Death Stranding is unsurprisingly heading to Steam and the Epic Games Store, which means Kojima Productions’ latest title will surface on the storefront that has no shopping cart sometime this summer.

As most people predicted, 505 Games had to wring out its love for the anti-consumer store by taking to Twitter to announce the aforementioned to gamers and fans alike.

Alternatively, those looking to ditch the PS4 version and play Death Stranding on another platform with the inevitable mods can do so later this year. In the meantime, the game is out now for the former platform.
