Microsoft and 343 Industries have screwed up on many occasions — much like Halo 5: Guardians‘ campaign. That’s not counting other social justice narratives that the duo pulled, but it looks like Halo: Infinite is going to be the game to “correct” the fifth entry’s mistakes and will still do so later this year despite the Xbox Team taking safety measures during this pandemic.
In other words, while the Xbox Team and 343 Industries try to take the safest route during this time, even if it impacts development times and so on, the publisher and developer will try their hardest to release Halo: Infinite to the general public later this year along with the Xbox Series X.
According to website dualshockers.com, we learn from the Xbox Game Studios head, Matt Booty, that both first-party developers (under Microsoft’s umbrella), as well as third-party partners, have been affected by the new work schedules due to the coronavirus.
With that said, the website highlights Booty saying the following:
“We know that gaming connects people during times of social distancing, and we are committed to delivering the highest quality Xbox Game Studios games for our global community of players. At the same time, the health and safety of our XGS development teams is our top priority. Each studio is facing unique challenges and constraints depending on its particular location, and many of our external development partners around the world are similarly affected. We are supporting our studio leaders to make the right decisions for their teams and their individual games during this challenging time.”
The website also shines a light on Halo community manager at 343 Industries, John “Unyshek” Junyszek, saying:
“We’re removing all the obstacles in our path and tracking well, but need to be mindful of our current limitations and understand that the coronavirus situation may get worse before it gets better. Rest assured that every single one of us is doing everything in our power to continue developing and delivering quality Halo experiences while we adjust to this new way of life. Beyond all of that though, please remember that this is bigger than games and bigger than Halo.”
Furthermore, the website says that, as of now, Halo: Infinite is still slated to arrive later this year given that Microsoft has verified that the next-gen game remains “on schedule to launch in Holiday 2020.”
Last but not least, the Slipspace engine is said to offer the devs working on Halo: Infinite more creative legroom than before, but we’ll see when the game launches later this year across PC and the Xbox family of consoles.
