During the height of Gamergate, it came out that a collective of journalists and industry insiders were working together to shape and influence the industry as a whole. Their mailing list, in which they talked about blacklisting people, pushing agendas and politics among numerous other things, became known as Game Journos Pros. By all rights, it was a cabal of far-leftist minds working together to hijack our entertainment. Much like a sadder version of Weishaupt’s Illuminati after being exposed the group supposedly disbanded, but as even Russia Today has covered, this is far from the truth. They just went underground.
Today they can be found publicly on ResetEra. Where together they continue to get people fired while harassing people and peddling influence to shape the industry as a whole. Yet one need not take my word on it, as discussed yesterday, Resetera Takes has recently outlined the sum collective of their verified ilk on the site. Keep in mind these are just those that are verified and are active on the site, not the sum total of the group. Like an iceberg, the whole is greater than what is seen.
As you can clearly see, Resetera only has 63 mod-verified journalists that work in niche gaming sites such as Kotaku, GameXplain, PCGamer, RPG site, VG247, Nintendo Wire, Eurogamer and more sites no one heard about.
how can they possibly influence video game journalism? pic.twitter.com/vQ8RUPjqho— Resetera Takes ️ (@ReeraTakes) March 11, 2020
And of course saying localisation studios listen to them in particular is a blatant lie, there are only 8 mod-verified translators on the forum.
They work on hidden gems such as Persona, Yakuza, Dragon Quest, Danganronpa, Ys, Zero Escape etc. pic.twitter.com/ZKjhgVQlu4— Resetera Takes ️ (@ReeraTakes) March 11, 2020
Now we’ll talk about community managers, remember when Resetera g̶o̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶G̶O̶G̶ ̶P̶R̶ ̶g̶u̶y̶ ̶f̶i̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶t̶t̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶h̶e̶l̶i̶c̶o̶p̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶j̶o̶k̶e̶?̶ owned the GOG transphobe? seems like GOG liked that, they even let their new PR guys join the forum pic.twitter.com/bfwHmJwoAX

Some might ask “what about devs???” good thinking, alt-righters.
Resetera is the unofficial official hangout for industry people, only around 100~ devs post on the forum, but they all work at indie startups (Sony, EA, Microsoft, Square Enix etc) so it doesn’t matter.

“Yeah yeah but companies still listen to them!!!1!”
Explain why there’s only 9 mod-verified publisher accounts of Resetera.
you might bring up that time they crucified Limited Run Games & forced them to apologize for publishing a THQ Nordic game but uuuuuuuuuh shut the fuck up pic.twitter.com/0m26RWRSVe— Resetera Takes ️ (@ReeraTakes) March 11, 2020
From there they play an influence game. A simple machination where they need to appear to be the voice of the people, for which they have to appear to be the most popular online gaming platform and community. It is no mistake then how many of these insiders on burner accounts or unverified accounts turn around and leak information about upcoming games.
This, in turn, causes people to have to talk about the website. More attention then draws in more users, which gives the appearance of authority. In principle at least, but because of their censorious nature– despite them following through the design near perfectly and coordinating — they have through their own vanity destroyed Resetera’s reputation even among casual gamers.
As I’ve said before if they were smart they’d be an actual threat. Imagine a group with the intelligence to put on a public face of tolerance, inclusiveness of all ideas, races, and politics, to create a platform where they use the standard cointelpro tactics to control the message and appearance. Shaping through propaganda tactics even the public’s own perception with military intelligence like efficiency. All the while in private, among their close nit group, coordinating their agenda with Machiavellian precision.
Thankfully like all lesser evils, they are too vain for their own good. It is not enough to achieve their agenda they need people to know they fight for. That they champion it. As that recognition gives them a sense of self-worth and standing in their community. It also makes it fairly easy to determine who is behind these machinations, make lists, and kick email campaigns into full gear.
