If you don’t know, a new report highlighting a recent interview on Final Fantasy VII Remake and its second part is up. Although the second part doesn’t have a release date as of now, the write-up in question mentions that development on the second installment is already underway as we speak.

Whether it’s about the ethics department going all out or Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s ending being barred from the net, it looks like Square Enix is going to continue its current-year ways with the second installment if the past holds any indications.

And on the topic of the second part of the JRPG and the past, website gamingbolt.com notes that part two of Final Fantasy VII Remake is being developed as of right now.

In addition to the above, the website makes mention of Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s producer, Yoshinori Kitase, speaking to Entertainment Weekly about work on the next installment:

“Development is already moving forward for the next game in the [Final Fantasy] remake project.”

Back on March 2nd, 2020, Kitase suggested the same thing during another interview, saying that Square Enix would move into production on the next game as soon as the first part becomes available.

Moreover, each game (or part) in the project will have a volume of content compared to a “standalone Final Fantasy title.”

It’s unclear if part two of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be on two-discs or if it will be a PS4/PS5 (timed) exclusive, but what is for certain about the second part is that during a financial results briefing in February of this year, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said that Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s delay would not impact development on the follow-up game.

Finally, Kitase said during E3 2019 that work on the second installment would be made easier after the first game releases to the wild. On that note, the first part is out and done, which means we might hear more about the second part sometime in 2021 — assuming the coronavirus doesn’t sweep in and cause complications.
