Sony and Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima has been delayed. The upcoming samurai/ninja game for PS4 will no longer release on June 26th, but now on July 17th, 2020. This information comes directly from Sony in a new blog post.
Not too long ago, we reported on the latest apology from OPM UK regarding “inaccuracies” on Ghost of Tsushima in two magazine issues, which prompted gamers and fans alike to question whether or not Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have other plans for the PS4 game.
To clarify the situation, the OPM UK publishes magazines, and in both the March cover story and May 2020 issue, the outlet touched on Ghost of Tsushima. However, the two pieces on the forthcoming PS4 game contain “inaccuracies” from an interview back in 2018.
Although the inaccuracies were never detailed by the outlet, it is believed that the inaccuracies revolve around Ghost of Tsushima‘s June 26th release date, and the game not having waypoints.
As reported before, there’s no validity behind the waypoint feature being an inaccuracy. However, there was some weight behind the claim that the release date is no longer set for late June in that the game’s main site quickly corrected another release date that wasn’t June 26th.
On the topic of another release date related to Ghost of Tsushima being corrected comes an official announcement on blog.us.playstation.com, which reveals the forthcoming game will make its debut on July 17th.
Hermen Hulst, SIE Head of Worldwide Studios, wrote the following letter on the official Sony blog site:
“As our teams at Sony Interactive Entertainment and Worldwide Studios approach development milestones and confront a world changed by COVID-19, we find ourselves having to adapt to today’s ever-changing environment. Amidst some disruptions to our working styles, we wanted to provide an update to PlayStation gamers who are eager to learn when our next exclusive titles will arrive to PlayStation 4.
As we begin to see an ease in the global distribution environment, I am pleased to confirm that […] Ghost of Tsushima will [release] on July 17.”
As mentioned above, this game will release this summer for PS4.
