On Sony’s official support portal, it has a banner up reminding folks that The Last of Us: Part 2 is no longer going to release for PS4 on May 29th, 2020. With that said, the portal also makes mention that eligible players who happen to have digitally pre-ordered the game should receive an automatic refund.
The above info comes from website gamerant.com, which covers the information related to The Last of Us: Part 2 being delayed and the digital refund process.
If you want to get a refund regarding your digital pre-order of the game that is now indefinitely delayed, you can head on over to support.playstation.com.
It’s worth noting that Sony has its staff open via live chat sessions in case you have questions regarding refunds or anything else. Additionally, starting on weekdays, you can contact them from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. PST. However, due to high demand and staffing shortages, it is said that you might “experience delays.”
Moreover, for the people out in the wild wondering, “Why not allow gamers to digitally download The Last of Us: Part 2 during these times?” Well, the creative director and vice president of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, claims that it wouldn’t be a “fair worldwide release.”
In addition to the above, Druckmann wants the game to release worldwide and believes that “several regions around the world do not have great ease of access to online resources” to download the game.
So, in other words, Druckmann’s reasoning behind The Last of Us: Part 2 not releasing digitally is that it would throw off the worldwide physical and digital plan that Sony and Naughty Dog have for the forthcoming title.
Last but not least, if you may have pre-ordered the digital version of The Last of Us: Part 2 and are looking to get a refund, you can head on over to support.playstation.com to do so.
