The Adventures Of Tintin In Development For PC And Home Consoles

Microids and Moulinsart have announced that a new game is in the works based on the classic Adventures of Tintin. They didn’t roll out many details for the game but they did announce that it’s scheduled to release on PC and home consoles.

They didn’t say which home consoles would be supported, but I’m pretty sure the Xbox One and PS4 are on the docket, and it’s a toss-up if it’s going to be cross-generational for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but that’s a high possibility as well. The only console that may be left out of the bunch is the Nintendo Switch, but we’ll have to wait for more details to find out if it makes the cut or not.

The French outfit is creating the game as part of a 35th anniversary celebration at Microids. It seems crazy to think that a publisher has lasted this long without turning corrupt or succumbing to the convergence that has ruined so many other publishers, so it’s nice to see that Microids is deciding to keep their tradition of making niche games going strong by landing a deal with the Adventures of Tintin license.

What don’t know much about the project, but it will be an action-adventure game where you’ll be able to play as Tintin and Snowy.

Captain Haddock, professor Calculus and Thomson & Thompson will also make an appearance. We have no idea what the art-style will look like, but it would be awesome if it were 3D with a comic-book inspired shader to mimic the books.

For now this is just a preliminary announcement for the game so we’ll have to wait to find out what the gameplay mechanics will be like, how Tintin will control, what sort of locations he’ll visit, and what the general loops will be, as well as what console platforms they’re targeting.

In the meantime you can keep an eye on Microid’s official website for any future updates regarding the new generation video game adaptation of The Adventures of Tintin.
