After four weeks, Sony and Naughty Dog have announced that The Last of Us: Part 2 will release for PS4 on June 19th, 2020. This news comes after the game being indefinitely delayed earlier this month due to the current pandemic.

On April 5th, 2020, game director Neil Druckmann had said that the team was looking over different ways to release the forthcoming woke title without a demo so that it launches worldwide in a “fair way.”

In addition to the above, Sony and Naughty Dog didn’t want to release The Last of Us: Part 2 in a fragmented state where some people could get the game early while others had to wait.

Druckmann also noted four weeks ago that releasing a demo out to players in an “acceptable state” is a “massive amount of work” that he didn’t want to put the team through. Additionally, he would rather want the team to devote that time to finish up the main game instead of shipping out an “old demo.”

After all of that assessment on Sony and Naughty Dog’s end, the two have decided to release the game on June 19th, 2020. This information comes from blog.us.playstation.com.

So the bottom line is, there will be two discs required to see the woke game all the way through to the end (unless you opt for the digital edition), and if you want to get your hands on The Last of Us: Part 2, it will release next month.

And speaking of release dates, February 21st was the game’s first due date until it was pushed to May 29th. As of now, the game will release worldwide for PS4 on June 19th, 2020.
