The NBA 2K series is the perfect example of pushing the envelope and getting normies and centrist™ to accept/defend the “new low.” In other words, controversy ensues over something like forced in-game ads or paying for expensive microtransactions. However, said fuss dies down, which allows for the next controversy to rise up to rinse and repeat the process, much like how NBA 2K21 will cost consumers $9.99 more when purchased for next-gen consoles.
2K Games and Visual Concepts are looking to laugh all the way to the bank while duping any normie or centrist™ that pays for the travesty that is NBA 2K21.
According to website gamesindustry.biz, the game will have four different versions. One out of the four versions will run folks $69.99 if they want to play the running joke that is the next entry in the NBA 2K series, while the current-gen version will ask $59.99 to essentially play the same game that comes out every single year.
Moreover, the website explains that the other editions of the game are the Kobe Bryant Mamba Forever Edition (which is available across all platforms for $99.99), and the standard edition — which can be purchased across current-gen consoles for $59.99 or on next-gen consoles for $69.99.
You can check out the price for all four versions of the game right here:
If you want to know the excuse as to why the game will run folks looking to adopt the next-gen edition of the game ten extra bucks, the publication site cites president of Visual Concepts, Greg Thomas, saying the following:
“NBA 2K21 is a monumental leap forward for the franchise. We’re combining all of our experience and development expertise to craft the best game possible and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, we are building the game from the ground up to take full advantage of next-gen power and technology.”
The above information was the excuse, the real reason why Thomas and crew are charging extra is that they want to set the “new low,” which is get normies and centrist™ to defend predatory practices backed by the usual current year propaganda.
Lastly, NBA 2K21 and 2K21: Mamba Forever Edition will launch for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia on September 4th, 2020. The next-gen version of said games will debut for PS5 and Xbox Series X sometime this holiday season.
