Ubisoft’s The Division is out and available right now for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The game is a third-person, MMO shoot-and-grind fest. The objective is to scour the map to loot goods and upgrade your character to make them stronger. One thing some gamers may not have known about is that it’s possible to keep the gear you have and re-roll the stats on it to make it more efficient. There’s a quick guide available that teaches you how to re-roll your gear to make it more useful without spending more money on new gear.
YouTuber CrusaderTheDesigner put together a very quick three minute video showcasing how to re-roll your gear by purchasing a specific skill set and accessing a specific workstation in Tom Clancy’s The Division. The process is a lot easier than you might have imagined and the video below quickly teaches you how to take advantage of completely re-rolling the stats on your armor and weapons. You can check it out below.
Head to the Tech Wing. Purchase the Recalibration upgrade. It’s a workstation upgrade that allows you to improve gear and tech you find out in the field.
Once you purchase the Recalibration upgrade it will open up a workstation desk just behind you in the center of the left side of the room. When you go over to the workstation it will enable you to re-roll the stats on the gear you’re currently wearing.
Depending on the level of your gear and the level of your character will determine how much it will cost to re-roll the stats. This is similar to re-rolling the stats on the gear in Blizzard’s Diablo 3.
In the example in the video above, you can see that specific stats on the gear can be selected and re-rolled with new status changes. In the video he selects the Ballistic Shield Health stat on the Combat Mask, and it shows the possible recalibrations, such as Fist Aid Ally Heal, or Smart Cover Duration, or Pulse Critical Hit Damage Bonus, or even increasing the Sticky Bomb Explosion Radius.
Different equipment allows you to re-roll with different status effects.
When you choose to re-roll the stats on gear you can manually choose what you want to re-roll it as. As showcased in the video above, the Sticky Bomb Explosion Radius was chosen as one of the stats to add to the gear.
Another thing worth noting is that the more you re-roll the gear the more expensive it becomes to re-roll that particular set of gear. So choose wisely on what gear you want to re-roll and which stat you want to re-roll.
It’s also possible to get different percentages on the effectiveness of the stat being rolled again on the gear, so some re-rolls might give you a lower-percentage on the stat you’re replacing while other re-rolls might give you a higher percentage on the stat you want to replace.
This is mostly an option available to those who want to stick with a very specific set of gear and feel as if for that level it’s better to alter the stats than trade in the gear for something new. Heck, given the way The Division is it’s also entirely possible you may not find better gear in the areas where you’re scavenging, and it’s just more effective to re-roll some gear at your current level until you can completely replace your entire set with something better.
The Division is out and available right now for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. You can pick up a digital or physical copy of the game from local retailers or online e-tailers. After a rocky start with the servers, Ubisoft managed to get things up and running nice and neat for the game later during the launch day.
