Monster Hunter Generations Receives Special Edition New 3DS XL

Capcom announced the official release date for Monster Hunter Generations in the West. The title will arrive on the various Nintendo 3DS portable devices starting July 15th.

In addition to announcing the release date, Capcom also revealed that Monster Hunter Generations will have a special edition New Nintendo 3DS XL that will launch, which features an Egyptian blue color scheme with an embossing of the four legendary monster bosses drawn behind the Monster Hunter Generations logo.

You can get a look at the new 3DS with the image below.

As you can see, the bezel connecting the two screens has a faux metallic coating to give it a richly textured look, and the Monster Hunter Generations title is printed just beneath the black and white logo.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL will not arrive with a copy of the game, but it will be launching on the same day as the game. You’ll be able to pick up a physical or digital copy of Monster Hunter Generations alongside the new handheld.

Briefly Capcom talks about what’s new in this upcoming rendition of Monster Hunter. They explain that if you have a new 3DS with C-stick controls, you can use it to control the camera. The Hunter Arts can also be mapped and customized to the ZL and ZR buttons, for a little bit of extra customization.

Online co-op will make a return, along with crafting and adventuring, and a total of 20 different locations to visit to track down and kill monsters.

Ahead of the game’s launch on July 15th there will be a playable demo made available. So gamers who want to get their hands on that can do so fairly soon. There isn’t much more to say about the game since Capcom hasn’t said much about the game, but given that it releases two months from now, I suspect we’ll get a trickle of information and media leading up to the big July 15th release.
