Garou Mark Of The Wolves Coming To PS4, PS Vita With Cross-Buy Support

As part of the 25th anniversary for the Fatal Fury series and in conjunction with the fighting game community’s celebration of the biggest tournament series of the year, EVO, which is taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center, SNK Playmore has announced that Garou: Mark of the Wolves will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita, soon.

Over on the official PlayStation Blog, SNK Playmore’s business development manager Laurent Vernezy made a post explaining that they would be celebrating EVO and the 25th anniversary of Fatal Fury by announcing that one of the most beloved entries in the Fatal Fury series would be coming to Sony’s very popular PS4 and PS Vita.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves was the last standalone entry in the Fatal Fury franchise, following the lone wolf Terry Bogard in his new role as mentor and trainer of Geese Howard’s son, Rock Howard. Unlike a lot of other annoying kids in fighting games, it was easy to get behind and root for Rock. He was an interesting fighter with a mix of Geese’s and Terry’s moves, which I thought was pretty awesome. He had a nice power-spike to his attacks while having the ability to close distances quick with the modified Burning Knuckle.

If you need a refresher course on what the game is like, you can check out a long-play session of Garou: Mark of the Wolves courtesy of Youtuber user Leon F.

A lot of fans thought that Rock would eventually make an appearance in King of Fighters but it never happened.

While fans begged and pleaded for a sequel to Garou, SNK was in financial turmoil and it never came to pass. However, now that they’ve gone back into the hardcore gaming arena and are reviving their focus and determination in King of Fighters franchise, it’s possible that we could see a proper sequel to Garou if King of Fighers XIV does well enough on the PS4 this August.

In the meantime, fans will be able to enjoy the re-release of the classic Neo Geo fighter with added cross-buy support between the PS4 and PS Vita, along with cross-platform multiplayer, and stable netcode based on Code Mystic’s design for their PlayStation 4 and Vita port of The Last Blade 2.

A new gallery mode is being added featuring classic and iconic art from both Garou and Fatal Fury, along with the option to listen to the game’s original soundtrack from the menu.

They didn’t roll out a specific date on when Garou: Mark of the Wolves would be made available for the PS4 and PlayStation Vita, but it’s apparently coming soon.
