A new set of prehistoric creatures are now available to tame in Studio Wildcard’s Ark Survival Evolved. As always, this means that you can not only ride them but also tame them as your life long pet. This guide, however, will focus on the newly added Pelagornis and how to tame it for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The Pelagornis is one of the most versatile mounts on the island. Having one pet that can fly, swim and walk all in one go has the potential to be an ace up one’s sleeve. The only drawback to this creature is its lack of snatching prey from the ground, which may limit its appeal to some hunters.
Aside from that one problem, the prehistoric creature still holds its merits and can be tamed following a few simple steps. The process for it isn’t that hard and will most likely meet the requirements of most veteran players’ resources.
Before jumping into the text guide, you can watch a video guide by YouTuber ThickFreedom, who does a concise job on detailing the taming process in a bite size potent video.
To make its saddle, it requires one to own resources of 230 Hide, 125 Fiber and 75 Chitin/Keratin. Below details each level and the resources you will need to tame the Pelagornis.
At Level 8, you will need to tame it with one arrow to the head, 65 Narcotics, 75 Raw Fish, with a time span of 1 hour and 59 minutes. At level 10, it requires one arrow to the body, 0 Narcotics, and you have to feed it four Raw Prime, with a time span of five minutes. At level 16, it takes three arrows, five Narcotics (x20 taming), 14 Raw Fish, with a time of around five minutes.
Looking into the higher leveled variants of the Pelagornis, it will take one head shot to take down a level 32 target, with 20 Narcotics, eight Kibble (Compy Eggs), and will take around 32 minutes. At level 48, it takes one arrow, 0 Narcotics (5x Taming), three Kibble (Compy Eggs), and around nine minutes to tame it.
I should note that some of the information may change depending on how the taming process goes, if the devs decide to seed a new update fixing some things regarding the Pelagornis. With that said, that’s basically all the steps it takes to tame the Pelagornis, as of now. Ark Survival Evolved is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
