System Shock 3 Full Development Production Underway

OtherSide Entertainment has announced that the full development of System Shock 3 has gotten underway. The project was originally making headlines back at the end of 2015, when it was teased by Otherside with an image looming in the background of the website.

The press release indicates that the third game in the critically lauded series will be headed up by the legendary game designer himself, Warren Spector, the same mind behind titles like the original Deus Ex and the System Shock series.

Spector is joined by Sheldon Pactotti who is on as the design director, Arturo Pulecio who will be the art director, and Jason Hughes the tech director. I’m sure they’ll fill out additional roles as production begins to move along towards the long road of completion.

The reality is that we likely won’t see this game come to fruition until maybe 2018 or 2020. Of course, the team at OtherSide Entertainment want to keep gamers abreast of development milestones and other breakthroughs in the game’s fruition, and you can do so by registering to join the newsletter over on the official website.

Now this is separate from the remastered version of the original System Shock, which is currently in development by Nightdive Studios. That version of the game was Kickstarted recently to the tune of $1.35 million. Gamers will have to stay on their Ps and Qs to ensure that Nightdive delivers as promised.

In the case of System Shock 3, the game will supposedly finish off and complete the story based on the cliffhanger from System Shock 2. Given the rapid advancements in today’s technology, I’m terribly interested to see what becomes of the game.

For now all we can do is sit and wait for more news to surface as they ramp up the team numbers and begin full production on System Shock 3.
