Call Of Duty: World At War Is Now Backwards Compatible For Xbox One

Microsoft announced that several new games have joined the backwards compatible list for the Xbox One, including a classic from Treyarch before they went on to work on the Black Ops series, Call of Duty: World at War.

According to Gamezone, the titles E4, EnclevermentExperiment and FunTown have also joined the backwards compatible list for the Xbox One and are currently available for purchase from the Xbox digital store. However, people care about those games being on the Xbox One about as much as they care about Kevin Love being on roster for the Cavaliers.

The real talk of the town is Activision’s Call of Duty: World at War for the Xbox 360 coming to the Xbox One; the game that marked a turning point in the series where zombies became one of the key selling points for the Call of Duty franchise.

The 2008 title sold well over 11 million copies and that number will likely skyrocket once more as it’s become available for purchase on the Xbox One.

I know Microsoft stumbled out of the gate with the Xbox One’s announcement and launch worst than the Chicago Bears have been fumbling the ball each game this season, but I have to admit that Phil Spencer and the revamped team at the Xbox division really pulled it back together and tied it up tight when it comes to working cohesively as a group and churning out a great product this generation.

The backwards compatibility was a brilliant move because it means a lot of gamers can now get the Xbox One and play a lot of the disc or digital-based titles from the Xbox 360’s library without having to own an Xbox 360. Very smart move by Microsoft.

The addition of Call of Duty: World at War to the Xbox One’s library comes just ahead of the release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in November, which also features the remastered edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from 2007. You can either pop in your disc for World at War to start downloading the game and playing it to your heart’s content, or you can grab a digital copy from the Xbox Store.
