The big talk of the town this week was the axing of early review copies from Bethesda. Some people called it anti-consumer, and they would be right assuming the press were generally pro-consumer, but that isn’t really the case in today’s industry. In this case the supposed anti-consumer move also hurt the anti-consumer games press and it hurts the corrupt press more than it does gamers.
On the lighter side of the news, two games have gone gold this past week, including Watch Dogs 2 and The Last Guardian. The surprising news is that The Last Guardian could actually be arriving on store shelves after a decade of development. Most surprising was the fact that there are now facts out there showing that the Clinton campaign engaged in illegal FEC conduct, but there’s likely not going to be any punishments served and she seems to be well on her way to becoming the 45th President of the United States of America. The Last Guardian Goes Gold
The weekend bore fruit in the form of a milestone being achieved for a game that almost has reached Half-Life 3 and Duke Nukem Forever status. I’m talking about The Last Guardian, which has gone gold for the PS4. Music-rhythm game Senran Kagura Bon Appetit! is coming to Steam this November. Some of the DLC for Persona 5 has been outlined, and Atlus is digging deep in the history of the Shin Megami Tensei series to bring gamers some classic favorites. War of Rights was recently updated and made the transition from the CryEngine 3 to the CryEngine 5. And My Little Pony: Puzzle Party is getting sued for copyright infringement. Good times.
Clinton Campaign Gets Caught In Illegal FEC Violation
There have been additional videos, FEC filings, confessions and more indicating that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was directly tied to some of the black ops carried out by shadow organizations working to disrupt the Trump campaign. All of the information is very damning. The CBC Twitter handle threw the CBC Ombudsman under the bus as more questions about the CRTC investigation continued. New gameplay footage has been revealed for Project SOCJUS, featuring some fights against Social Justice Warriors and beta male white knights. And a new first-person shooter called Hired Ops has landed on Steam and despite the great looking graphics the game has suffered from some negative reviews due to lag and matchmaking issues.
SAG Members Picket EA’s Offices
SAG-AFTRA have taken their protests to the next level, picketing out front of the offices of Electronic Arts. More than 250 members were in attendance, as well as other union groups, offering their support for the SAG video game voice actor strike. The Portland Mercury decided to call out James Rolfe, the Angry Video Game Nerd, as part of their promotion of a Portland gaming expo, saying he’s a misogynist for not wanting to see the Ghostbusters 2016 reboot. New screenshots have been revealed for Nier: Automata, and the newest Dark Souls 3 DLC has gone live this week.
Bethesda Cancels Pre-Release Review Copies
It doesn’t sound like game reviewers will be experiencing Bethesda games ahead of release anymore. The company has axed pre-release review copies and game journalists are more butthurt about it than than a Prince impersonator in a Jacksonville prison. Super Dragon Bros is scheduled to release on November 1st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but it will be free for Xbox One users who have Xbox Live Gold. A new trailer for SD Gundam G Generation Genesis introduces gamers to both the characters and the mechs that will be operable in the upcoming title. Eurogamer Censors Crash Override Network Leaks
We all know where Eurogamer stands when it comes to the Crash Override Network leaks. The outlet has been on a rampage of censorship to hide any mention of the abuse, harassment and doxing carried out by Zoe Quinn’s supposed anti-abuse organization. Twitter is being sued for shorting stock and lying to shareholders about its value, because in reality it’s not worth half as much as they claim it is, in fact they’ve lost major value on the social network over the course of the last two years. Nintendo is aiming to ship 2 million SKUs in March of 2017 of the Switch, some people think that may not be enough while others are saying that Nintendo is exercising caution. And Capcom has revealed the new Monster Hunter XX for the Nintendo 3DS, proving that Nintendo’s handheld is still alive and well.
