The marketing for Mass Effect: Andromeda hasn’t been so great. It’s no shock that a lot of gamers are left leery and questioning whether or not they should even both putting their hard earned $60 down on the game, especially when socially questionable antics like one of the Mass Effect: Andromeda designers going on a racist tirade made a lot of people stand up and say they were canceling their pre-order. Well, they’ve attempted to recover some of that lost goodwill by announcing that the multiplayer maps for Mass Effect: Andromeda will be free.
WWG is reporting that BioWare’s general manager, Aaryn Flynn, announced that the multiplayer map setup will be identical to how they did things with Mass Effect 3. For those of you that remember, they released a lot of free content for the gaming audience as a way to keep them coming back for more, while gamers unwittingly fed into the microtransaction culture of the game’s multiplayer component.
Much like Mass Effect 3, the content that you unlock and earn in the online portion of Mass Effect: Andromeda will have a tie-in with the single-player content.

Producer Fernando Melo has been rolling out details on the multiplayer portion of Mass Effect: Andromeda in order to build hype for mode following a lot of disgruntlement after BioWare announced the cancellation of the multiplayer public test.
They will, however, attempt to compensate by demonstrating the multiplayer for the game during the PAX East weekend and those who attend.
A lot of the marketing for Mass Effect: Andromeda has been lackluster as of late, especially with the janky female Ryder animations taking the stage front and center in one of the more recent promo pieces, and the revelation that only a few planets can be landed on and explored. The game is starting to come across as a $30 half-hearted experiment using the remnants of Mass Effect’s soul in a cauldron of “we don’t give a f**k” and shipped out with a $60 price tag. We’ll see if that’s the case or not when the game launches on March 21st for PC, PS4, PS4 Pro and Xbox One.
