A couple of horror classics and some hunting games from Activision have recently been made backwards compatible for the Xbox One.

Over on Major Nelson’s blog it was revealed that Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2013, Cabela’s Hunting Expeditions and Cabela’s Survival: SoK are now all backwards compatible on the Xbox One.

The Cabela games are available through the Games On Demand service, along with Electronic Arts’ Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3. Both titles join the original Dead Space and Dead Space Ignition as backwards compatible titles for the Xbox One.

The original Dead Space was made backwards compatible back on March 30th, 2016 last year. So it took a whole year before Electronic Arts made Visceral Games’ other two Dead Space titles available as backwards compatible games for the Xbox One. Dead Space Ignition became backwards compatible back in November of 2016, so there was definitely a gap between EA making the games available through Microsoft’s service.

For those who may have missed out on the games or only joined the console race during eighth gen, you can try your hand at the third-person, horror-survival titles. Although, you should be warned that Dead Space and Dead Space 2 are definitely horror oriented, but EA wanted to “broaden” the “appeal” of the franchise and make it more like other blockbuster AAA franchises by lessening the horror elements since people complained during focus group testing that the games were too scary, so EA removed the horror and threw in some co-op. Because really, what says horror like two space cowboys armed to the teeth with more armament than Rambo in First Blood: Part III?

Anyway, the entire Dead Space trilogy is now complete and available on the Xbox One via Backwards compatibility. Turn off the lights and have a blast with one of the few game series (barring the third game) that was genuinely scary from seventh gen.
