Nathan McCree, the original composer for the Tomb Raider series is back. This time he’s offering fans of the original series an opportunity to experience the original soundtrack remastered, remade and revamped for today’s generation.

The Kickstarter campaign is actually nearing an end, with barely two days left and $24,400 to go in order to reach the $202,000 Kickstarter goal.

The project sees McCree working with the live Abbey Road Studios orchestra in London, England, all in an attempt to revive the classic sounds from the 1990s outings of Tomb Raider. He explains his intentions quite thoroughly in the pitch video, which you can check out below.

Surprisingly the extracts from the original games remade with an orchestra actually sounds pretty darn good.

According to McCree, since many fans weren’t able to attend the live concert that took place last year as part of the anniversary for Tomb Raider, he wanted to bring that live concert quality straight to the home of fans.

In order to record, master and produce the soundtrack for distribution, it will cost at minimum £160,000. It’s not cheap getting professionals to play your music.

That moment at the 1:20 mark where the butler walks into the kitchen storage and Lara jumps over him and locks him in the room pulled a pretty hearty laugh out of the audience. It was one of those trademark moments that really defined the old game series. There was nothing really as funny or as charming included in the newer games, since they decided to go really grim-dark with Lara’s portrayal and the villains she faced off against.

You can also hear a brief sample of the suite from Tomb Raider II, which sounds quite spiffy with its baroque motif.

There are a number of backer rewards made available for the Kickstarter, including a Tomb Raider jewel case for the CD featuring the old-school Lara Croft, or a vinyl featuring the more modern Lara as a silhouette, or a variety of classic black t-shirts featuring the eponymous star for anyone who pledges over $20.

According to the Kickstarter page if the funding goes through you could see the Tomb Raider Suite completed and compiled and ready for your listening pleasure by November of this year.
