PC Version Of Sonic Mania Delayed To August 29th

Sega recently announced that the PC version of Sonic Mania would not be releasing alongside the home console versions due out on August 15th. Instead, the PC version of the game will be released on August 29th at the end of the month instead.

The news came courtesy of an announcement during a live-stream where Sega not only revealed the delay, but they supplicated the bad news with some goodies in the form of unboxing the special collector’s edition of Sonic Mania. It’s a lengthy hour long video, but if you have some time to spare, you can check it out below.

The delay for the PC version of Sonic Mania will not go unanswered, though. Sega decided to reward PC gamers who pre-ordered the title by giving them a free complimentary copy of the original 16-bit version of the very first Sonic The Hedgehog. Honestly, I can’t imagine there are many people out there who are pre-ordering something like Sonic Mania who don’t already own a copy of the original Sonic.

According to TechRaptor, the limited collector’s edition will actually arrive on time for those who pre-ordered it, but it won’t arrive with the game. Instead, you’ll just get all the goodies associated with the collector’s edition.

Also, recently Sega let loose the intro cinematic for the game, which you can check out below.

A lot of people were really excited about the animation there, noting that they would love to see another animated Sonic cartoon made in similar fashion to what you see above. If Sega is truly done smoking crack, then maybe they’ll look into making the cartoon happen.

In the meantime, anyone who isn’t waiting for the PC version to release at the end of the month, you can look for Sonic Mania to launch on August 15th for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
