Control Has Gone Gold Despite Its Ridiculous PC Specs

Control has gone gold, and if you don’t know what that means, it is a term that refers to a complete project out of development. Additionally, Remedy Entertainment director, Mikael Kasurinen, announced this news on Twitter despite the game’s PC requirements.

You can read the tweet that serves as an announcement to the world that the forthcoming title by Remedy Entertainment has gone gold. Yes, Control’s development is complete and is ready for mass production, as noted below:

That’s right, the third-person shooter will be hitting the PS4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store on August 27th, 2019, and last week we reported on its official PC requirements and everything from the operating system (OS), processor, graphics card (or GPU), RAM, and other additional features.

Although the game is in the mass production phase due to it going gold, the minimum and recommended PC specs tell another story. Some people have caught this and believe that the game will run or play un-optimized, though time will tell.

With that said, you can be the judge by checking out Control‘s PC specs via the Epic Games Store webpage:

Minimum PC Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7, 64-bit OS
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or better
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD RX580 or better
  • For Ray-Tracking: GeForce RTX 2060
  • RAM: 8GB
  • DirectX: DX11
  • Additional Features: Widescreen support 21:9 / Remappable controls / Uncapped frame-rate / G-Sync / Freesync support

The recommended PC requirements sit below:

Recommended PC Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8600K / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or better
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti / AMD Radeon VII or better
  • For Ray-Tracking: GeForce RTX 2080
  • RAM: 16GB
  • DirectX: DX11 / DX12
  • Additional Features: Widescreen support 21:9 / Remappable controls / Uncapped frame-rate / G-Sync / Freesync support

Now, it’s worth mentioning that the above might be place-holder specs, which likely isn’t the case seeing how recent and specific they are, but games do change thanks to future updates that address all sorts of issues. However, we’ll see how the game performs at launch and if it will need (day-one) patches to salvage any problems lurking on August 27th and beyond.

In the meantime, Control will hit PC via the Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One late this August, while Steam users will gain access to the game next year.
