Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Campaign Is Between 5 – 7 Hours Long, Says Dev

Curious how long you’ll be playing as Iden Versio and the Inferno Squad in Motive, DICE, and Criterion’s Star Wars: Battlefront II campaign mode? Well, if you missed the headline the game’s campaign will run anywhere between five and seven hours long.

This was revealed in a brief interview that Motive Studio’s producer David Robillard had with Press Start, where he explained that the campaign was just under eight hours in length, saying…

“…we thought that around 5-7, maybe 8 hours is probably a good amount of time…we wanted to stay very driven towards the Star Wars fantasy that the players are going to experience and not have it be drawn out.”

This seems about par the course of the length of most Call of Duty campaigns. The original co-op campaign that Pandemic had in Star Wars: Battlefront II from more than a decade ago was also fairly short, but it was highly replayable.

Pandemic focused on the old Bungie concept of fun: 30 second pokcets of pure, unadulterated exhilaration.

You would find constant moments in the old game where you just had unrivaled amounts of fun blasting down Rebels, fighting giant space aliens on Felucia, or battling enemies in the tight corridors of a corvette.

So far we haven’t seen much of the gameplay from the single-player portion of Star Wars: Battlefront II, but what little that was showcased courtesy of a sponsored video from Electronic Arts, the gameplay was extremely lackluster.

Gone is the high-intensity of the old Pandemic games. In its place is a more sluggish, and uninspired third-person shooter adventure that feels more like service than entertainment.

Nevertheless, if you were curious about the length of the campaign, you now have your answer.

Whether or not this will compensate for the loot box microtransactions, the possible appearance of SJWism in the story mode, and the general decline in gameplay variety compared to the old Pandemic games is a decision you’ll have to make on your own when the time comes.
