PS4 Gamers Get Mad Max, Trackmania For PS Plus In April, While PS3 Owners Get Crap

Sony unveiled the PlayStation Plus subscription offerings for April, 2018. Gamers who own a PS Vita, PS3 or PS4 will have access to two games for each platform and six games in total.

The details on the games were rolled out by James Hallahan over on the PlayStation Blog. The six games for April include the following:

  • Mad Max
  • Trackmania Turbo
  • In Space we Brawl, PS3
  • Toy Home, PS3
  • 99 Vidas, PS Vita
  • Q*Bert Rebooted, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS3 and PS4)

So yeah, if you own a PS4 you get two good games to flesh out your library – offering enough playability and replayability to keep you busy all throughout April. This is assuming you’re poor, don’t have a good gaming rig, didn’t pick up Mad Max or Trackmania Turbo during a Steam sale, and don’t mind playing your games at barely-acceptable resolutions with frame-rates par the course.

Mad Max was definitely an above-par gameplay experience from Avalanche, actually containing a decent melee combat system, plenty of scavenging, lots of crafting and vehicular customization, along with missions that involve attacking convoys, protecting convoys, taking down outposts, and generally driving around big, open wastelands.

Trackmania Turbo is essentially the definitive Trackmania experience, giving gamers multiple biomes in one package without ripping players off by having them buy multiple expansion packs to get the full game like previous Trackmania titles.

Beyond that, the rest of the line-up sucks pretty badly, especially the PS3 offerings. Toy Home,/i> is a miniature racing game, while In Space We Brawl is some indie trash that no one cares about.

It’s a pretty sad day to be a PS3 gamer.

Of course, you won’t have to suffer through PSV and PS3 games for much longer. Next year Sony will cut the games out of the equation, so you’ll only be able to get PS4 titles each month, all while paying an absurdly high price for PlayStation Plus.

Enjoy console gaming.
