The Enthusiast Network, Lion Castle and Team6 Game Studios have announced that Super Street: The Game is set to arrive on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and on Steam for PC at some point in 2018 next year.
The press release is light on details, but creative director Ronnie Nelis explained why they decided to make the game that they’re making, saying…
“In the current game market there is a clear gap. We are missing a real street racing game with the sheer gameplay fun of the old days, but now with the highest visual standard and overall quality one can expect from a 2018 game”
“In addition, we want this game to be as close as possible to the Super Street fan base. These enthusiasts have such great passion and creativity when it comes to their cars. We want to capture all of this enthusiasm and make it possible for fans to finally live their Super Street fantasy in a full-blown game experience.”
The game is basically going to be like the spiritual successor to Need For Speed: Underground based on the press release.
Players will be able to acquire hot rides, fine tune and upgrade various aspects with aftermarket parts, and attempt to build a stylized street racer. I imagine this will be like Juiced for the new generation.. but sadly without any legendary commercials to make SJWs scream impotently into the night.
Anyway, Super Street: The Game will feature classic arcade racing, car culture themed around the world of the tuner market, and a hard focus on customization and individualizing your own ride.
We don’t know exactly when the game will release in 2018, but for now that’s the tentative date they’re going with.
There are no screenshots of in-game play, no trailers, not even press photos. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement event and reception, set to take place with the car meet in downtown Los Angeles, California. For those looking to attend in person, you can visit the official Super Street website for more details.
