Valve Remains Headstrong On Artifact And Will Release More News After Half-Life: Alyx Releases

Artifact unsurprisingly died at launch and somehow shocked everyone at Valve — including Gabe Newell. For some reason, the company is headstrong on trying to bring the dead game back and make people enjoy it despite the number of concurrent players sitting lower than 150. With that said, Valve recently sent out a letter saying that more info on Artifact will surface after Half-Life: Alyx makes its debut.

Although no one asked for Artifact or for that matter Half-Life: Alyx, it looks like after the latter game hits the market, the former title will be detailed as its reboot takes shape.

We know this due to a new and recent post on steamcommunity.com, which offers the following information:

“First off, we wanted to say thanks for all of your tweets, emails and posts. The continued interest in Artifact has been encouraging, and we sincerely appreciate all of the feedback!

You might notice some changes soon – we are starting tests on our systems and infrastructure. This shouldn’t impact live Artifact but we wanted to give you a heads up.

Expect more news after the launch of Half-Life: Alyx!”

The basic gist of the above message warns the handful of people playing Artifact and how they might notice changes since the devs are working on the card game’s systems and infrastructures.

With that said, these changes (at best) shouldn’t impact live Artifact, but if a large scale hiccup does happen, it shouldn’t matter given that five or so people are playing the game.

So there you have it, this new Artifact dubbed as a “reboot” or Artifact 2 is in the works and will make its rounds around media outlets after March 23rd, 2020. I do wonder if the reboot will die as fast as the OG game, or will it last a bit longer post-launch? Time will tell.

Lastly, Artifact the game is out now on PC via Steam.
