Yosuke Hayashi Would Like To Make A New IP For PS5, According To Report

Fumihiko Yasuda and Team Ninja have expressed interest in making a new Ninja Gaiden game not too long ago. Additionally, the team received more fan requests to make a Ninja Gaiden game over Nioh 2, but went on ahead and started working on the latter title. With all of that said, it looks like Yasuda’s partner Yosuke Hayashi wants to make a new IP for the PS5.

Yes, Hayashi and Team Ninja would like to work with Sony and its notorious policies to bring gamers a new working title on the PS5. Of course, the successor to the PS4 isn’t due out until late 2020, but after that, folks can expect a new intellectual property if the following report holds any weight.

As per eurogamer.pt (archive.org), we learn that the website had a chance to sit down with members of Team Ninja at a Nioh 2 event to discuss a list of things. One of the many discussion points landed on whether or not Hayashi would create a new IP for Sony’s upcoming PS5.

Here’s an excerpt from the piece by the publication site highlighting Hayashi’s thoughts on making a new IP for the Q4 2020 due Sony device:

“I believe that a new console will bring new opportunities and we would like to create a new game, a new intellectual property for PlayStation 5. We created the NiOh series for PS4 and we would like to do the same for PS5.”

The website closes out by saying gamers shouldn’t rule out Ninja Gaiden 4 or Nioh 3 happening, but to expect a new IP to tag along with said installations next-gen.

If that’s the case, would you like to see Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo cook up a new IP specifically for the next-gen console? As it stands now, it looks like Hayashi is up for the challenge to make a new IP after the PS5’s launch.
