Back in December we covered the legal litigation filed by Ragnarok LLC against Human Head Studios after the latter refused to turn over assets and source code they were paid to produce for Rune 2 following a buyout they kept secret from all their business partners up until they found out with the rest of us.
As is typical with legal procedures following the announcement of the lawsuit there was a lengthy silence as the matter made its way through the courts. Virtually nothing that transpired between then and now has been disclosed by either party, but Ragnarok has provided an update on their official website that the materials they paid for have been turned over to them.
Hi everyone. I have tremendous news to share today.
Late last week, we received a hard drive containing the RUNE II assets and source code. We have brought on engineers to check the thoroughness of materials and ensure the hard drive has all RUNE II files.
Currently we have set up a build, test, and staging environment. Once we have confirmed that we are able to make a complete build of the current version of RUNE II (.12L), we are going to begin working on a patch to address the top critical issues, bugs, and optimizations that we have seen reported over the last month and a half. As always, thanks for sticking with us and being fans of RUNE II.
Happy Holidays from myself and the team!
With a horrendous year plaguing Bethseda’s reputation and most of their subsidiaries delivering under-performing or outright flopping titles it is astounding the company would allow their new acquisition to destroy its reputation out the door. This only serves as further indication of a complete managerial failure at both Zenimax and Bethesda. An issue that has plagued the company for the last several years.
Hopefully this will not be indicative of the quality of product Roundhouse Studios will put out, but it doesn’t inspire much confidence that they will be the one to course correct.
