2K Games Announces New BioShock Game Is Under Development By A Diverse Team

You’ve read right, there’s a new BioShock game coming to town and it ain’t without current year propaganda, according to Kelley Gilmore, the global studio head at Cloud Chamber. This announcement comes from David Ismailer, the president of 2K Games.

Thanks to website DSOG, we learn that BioShock is still going to be a thing next-gen. Of course, this wouldn’t be current year without the help of diversity hires. So there’s that.

Firstly, the publication site has a quote from Ismailer that reveals the next installment in the series is handled by the developer Cloud Chamber. Ismailer also goes on a typical PR talking spree that could dry paint:

“As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people and their collective, long-term potential. BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation. We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”

Speaking of uninspired talk, website DSOG sees Gilmore saying nothing of importance but flexing her stance on “current year inclusion” by bringing up nonsensical diversity lingo:

“We founded Cloud Chamber to create yet-to-be-discovered worlds – and their stories within – that push the boundaries of what is possible in the video game medium. Our team believes in the beauty and strength of diversity, in both the makeup of the studio and the nature of its thinking. We are a deeply experienced group of game makers, including many responsible for BioShock’s principal creation, advancement and longstanding notoriety, and honored to be part of the 2K family as stewards of this iconic franchise.”

Being honest here, I wouldn’t hold my breath on this game being decent when it is revealed or when it comes out for the general public to consume.

None of the above should come in as a surprise, though. We reported on this stuff with the game potentially launching with microtransactions or live-service mechanics and diversity not too long ago.

Anywho, no release date has surfaced, but you can be sure that it will hit PC and current-gen consoles as well as next-gen devices to maximize re-occurring spending and the like.
