Ghost Of Tsushima Is Still Coming To PS4, Says Sony President Jim Ryan

Back in 2018, we reported that Sucker Punch was looking for a Senior Environment Artist and Gameplay Programmer, which means Ghost of Tsushima could release late 2019 or sometime 2020. According to Sony President, Jim Ryan, the game is still on track to release for PS4 and not PS5 when it becomes available in the wild.

Given that the next-generation PlayStation console is due to release holiday 2020, we know that Ghost of Tsushima’s release window is between late this year and up to Q4 2020.

Yours truly isn’t a fan of current year Sucker Punch or the combat in the game, but if you are a fan of Ghost of Tsushima, the aforesaid comes from the same blog post revealing more info on the PS5 and its controller’s specs.

In addition to the above, you can read over Sony President’s words on Ghost of Tsushima and other games releasing for PS4 and not the PS5 when launch day rolls around:

“While there’s much more to share about PlayStation 5 in the year ahead, we have plenty of blockbuster experiences coming your way on PS4, including Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, and Ghost of Tsushima. I’d like to thank all PlayStation fans for continuing the journey with us, as we embark on the future of games.”

I should note that it’s not ruled out that this game will more than likely hit PS5 at a later time to double-dip. However, Sony plans to release the upcoming title set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan on PS4 first.

In the meantime, you can check out Ghost of Tsushima’s gameplay reveal at E3 2018 — an event that Sony did not skip out on, unlike E3 2019. The video comes in courtesy of PlayStation‘s YouTube channel:

If you are a fan of Sony and its censorship policies and wish to experience one of the company’s forthcoming exclusives, then you have either late 2019 or 2020 to go hands-on with Ghost of Tsushima.
