Mekazoo Co-op Revealed, Features Transforming Animals With 3D Platforming

Imagine a little bit of Chameleon Twist with Gex and a dash of Pandemonium and you get The Good Mood Creators’ Mekazoo. The game is a side-scrolling, 3D platformer where players take command of transforming animals in a mechanized world.

At PAX Prime 2015 developers The Good Mood Creators will be showcasing the game’s new local cooperative mode for Mekazoo, allowing players to work together in the fast-paced platformer. If you need a taste of what the game is about you can check out the trailer below.

Each of the characters that players will have control over will offer a different way to progress through the levels. The wallaby allows players to spring off walls; the armadillo can roll up and move fast through stages; the frog can use its tongue to swing through stages; the panda can kick the crap out of anything in its way and the pelican can fly through stages when necessary.

The game features a snazzy electric-swing soundtrack from The Quiggles. Yes, the same Quiggles that put together that equally snazzy soundtrack to Nitronic Rush, the predecessor to the crowd-funded stunt-racing game Distance. You can check out the soundtrack for Mekazoo below.

That’s some good stuff. It almost reminds me of the nu swing soundtrack to Beatbuddy fused with the techno-trance from Nitronic Rush.

Jarrett Slavin, the creative director, The Good Mood Creators commented about the game’s recently revealed co-op mode, stating…

“The reception to Mekazoo at shows like SXSW and GDC has been overwhelmingly positive and we are thrilled so many people are eagerly anticipating its release,”

“The most common request we’ve received is for local cooperative multiplayer, so we’re proud to announce PAX Prime attendees will have the first opportunity to try it.”

The game will allow players to seamlessly transition between all the animals throughout the levels, and the co-op will give gamers an extra pair of hands to help out during the more challenging segments.

The game is slated to release in 2016 for the Xbox One, PS4, PC and Wii U. Need more info? Check out the official Mekazoo website.
