A mod called JobsV turns Grand Theft Auto V into a realistic version of The Sims. You have to work hard to earn money, you have to get a college education, you have to apply yourself and attempt to survive in the harsh realities of Los Santos.
The mod doesn’t give you any quarter or any shortcuts. It’s designed to test your mettle, your life training skills and your ability to adapt to the unforgiving working climate of a satirical American society.
As mentioned over on the mod page, creator TylerEspo writes…
“JobsV extends the fun and endless possibilities in GTA V. This script gives a life-like feeling to the game. Players have the ability to apply to multiple jobs, attend college, earn a degree, and make a salary while working your way up the charts! In terms, this is a RPG.”
If this sounds tedious and boring, well that’s because it’s aimed at mimicking real life. You can take on a job as a taxi driver or as an airplane pilot or as a cop or as a firefighter. You first have to get an education in the designated field before living out your dream job.
You can see what the mod is like with a live-stream playthrough below from YouTuber TeamEpiphany.
One of the things that gamers were asking about is whether or not these additional jobs would become playable mini-games. According to Tyler, some of the jobs already are mini-games but they plan on adding more in a future release of the mod. In a Q&A on the mod page Tyler states…
“[…] in future updates we will add the play-ability for the jobs. We have implemented some jobs that already have play-ability.”
The mod allows players to go to college, get a taxi driver license, get various jobs at restaurants, as a driver, as a pilot, a firefighter, even as a programmer. It’s also possible to become a music performer.
YouTuber Typical Gamer also a has a live-stream available of the most recent version of the mod for GTA V that you can check out below.
The latest version of the beta now works with the latest rendition of the ScriptHook to make scripting mods work in GTA V, and it should go without saying that playing this online is a huge no-no, unless you want to get perma-banned by Rockstar.
You can download the mod and play it in the single-player portion of the game right now by grabbing a copy from the GTA5-mods website.
