Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed is finally gearing up for release and Ubisoft and 20th Century Fox let loose the first major trailer for the movie. It features a song from the prima donna, Kanye West.
The trailer gives gamers and movie goers alike an idea of what the plot is about and how Michael Fassbender will don the robes of an Assassin during the Spanish Inquisition, as well as learning how to kung fu with the animus during the 21st century.
You can check out the trailer below.
This seems like the kind of movie that should be made as a threequal. We all know a backstabbing corporate moment will occur, and we all know that Fassbender will have to use his newfound Matrix abilities to stop the people he thought were the good guys (ala Wanted) but I don’t see how that’s going to happen within the span of an hour and 30 minutes. Unless, of course, all the Spanish stuff is quickly thrown together and over with really quickly?
I can’t really see that working, though.
Anyway, the trailer leaves viewers with a lot of intrigue. The fight choreography looks exquisite and the game’s parkour and hidden blades make surprisingly accurate appearances throughout the trailer.
The only downside is that a bunch of people don’t like the fact that 20th Century Fox went with Kanye West for the opening trailer for this highly anticipated blockbuster movie. The biggest issue is that the song doesn’t fit the tone of the trailer, and the lyrics don’t make a whole lot of sense. It’s not a knock against Assassin’s Creed, of course, it’s a knock against Kanye West. But I digress.
You can look for the Assassin’s Creed movie to launch later on this year in theaters around the globe. Unfortunately Ubisoft blew their load on one too many piss-poor Assassin’s Creed games and over-saturated the market, so they’re taking 2016 off and will be back with another game in 2017, otherwise this would have been the perfect opportunity to have a tie-in game.
