I know that there’s a lot of controversy surrounding the latest DOOM, which revolves around it having some sort of identity crisis with its PvP and what-not, but for those that fancy the original cover art of the classic FPS will get just that, and a little more in its latest launch trailer.
Set to release on May 13th, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the latest DOOM by Bethasda and id Software has a new trailer that provides a throwback to the original DOOM games. I’m sure by the picture above, many fans will be able to recognize the iconic image of the DOOM guy battling a hoard of imps.
Except, there are some differences. He doesn’t have his machine gun, and you can’t see a second player running in the background, but aside from that it’s pretty cool.
The trailer shows the Doom guy’s escape from a hospital or some ritual room, and starts up the gore fest shortly afterwards. Throughout the video, slow-mo scenes showcase decapitation and brutal kills that reveal the game’s signature line — “Fight Like Hell.”

To be honest, I can’t wait to play the single-player mode, or other players’ SnapMap stages. Being a fan of map editing and making stages, it seems like it would spark a very long-lasting and fresh take on its PvP. However, I’m a little worried about the single-player, I just hope that the SP mode doesn’t dive too much into story or out-of-place segments, and focuses more on classic elements that made DOOM… you know, DOOM.
If you can’t wait and want to get your hands on the latest iteration, it will be out in the next eight days, as of this writing, which is on May 13th. The FPS will be available across PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
