If you don’t mind forking over some change to the makers of the Cemu Wii U emulator, you can get your hands on the 1.5.0 release, which was announced over on the GBA Temp page.
The release of the latest Cemu emulator features a number of fixes, including controller support for up to eight players, Pro Controller and Classic Controller emulation, as well as graphical bug fixes and improved sound emulation, the latter of which was something they had some problems with in earlier renditions.
They also noted that there’s reduced VRAM usage and full screen command options. They’ve also made a number of fixes and support on the graphics API front. You can check out the full changelog for version 1.5.0 of the Cemu over on the Cemu.info website.
As noted on Reddit, the emulator didn’t launch without a little something-something to whet the appetites of eager emulation aficionados. YouTuber reznoire posted up a video showcasing the latest iteration of Cemu running Mario Kart 8. You can check it out in the video below.
It was noted in the Reddit thread that three main issues prevented Mario Kart 8 from running pitch perfect, and it was the skybox (which has now been fixed), the memory issues and the aforementioned sound emulation. The memory issues also appear to be addressed, so some users might notice a difference there. The only major hurdle to overcome now is the sound emulation.
Sound was always one of the major problems in most emulators, especially for Nintendo systems. Getting the sound to run right with some GameCube games on the Dolphin was always a challenge.
Given that Cemu 1.5.0 is available now to those who pledge to the Cemu team’s Patreon account, it’s possible to check it out ahead of the public release for $5 by visiting Patreon.
It won’t be long now before Cemu 1.5.0 WIi U emulator will be made available for the public at large.
