The U.K., based developer Milky Tea and publisher Wales Interactive have announced that the quirky racing game, Coffin Dodgers, is now available on the PlayStation 4.
In addition to launching on the PS4, the game is also currently discounted by 10% for PlayStation Plus members off the normal price of $11.99. The game sees players racing as old people in combat-kart racing around neighborhoods, graveyards and town squares. As is the case with most kart racing games, the title offers both single and multiplayer modes. You can check out a trailer below featuring some of the gameplay of Coffin Dodgers in action.
The game sports 2 – 4 player local multiplayer, along with 13 different tracks to race across and a variety of weapons for players to pick up and use against other racers. The object of the game is to out-race and out-drive the Grim Reaper and his scooter henchmen. Almost sounds like a Dreamworks film.
This particular indie title originally launched on PC a while back, and it went through the rigorous Greenlight process in order to make it onto the Steam store.
The game sports both projectile-based power-ups along with kart-to-kart melee combat. Players can win races, earn loot, unlock new gear and even upgrade and customize their scooters.
Coffin Dodgers certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it adds a nice bit of shine to the wheel that already works well enough. If you’re into classic kart-racing games like Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing or Crash Tag-Team Racing, this isn’t a bad way to go. The game offers players plenty of tracks and a couple of game modes to keep the entertainment values intact.
As for Xbox One owners… you can look to get your hands on this little gem later in the week starting May 6th. You can learn more about the game by hitting up the official Wales Interactive website.
