I have to tip my hat off to the marketing team at Nexon for putting together some of the slickest trailers I’ve seen for an MMO. Riders of Icarus looks good in each of its promo bits, and the latest trailer is no exception to that trend.
In the latest trailer for Riders of Icarus we get to see the beasts of the wild that were once the enemy of man, but now are tamed and used as battle fiends against the forces of evil.
Plot wise I don’t think there’s going to be a very strong narrative to Riders of Icarus, but I could be wrong. Regardless of the narrative, if the mount capturing and combat is solid enough then I think the game could most definitely stand on its own two feet as a worthwhile MMO in what seems like a thin and lacking genre at the moment.
As for what Riders of Icarus brings to the table… it’s a third-person MMO where players get to create their own character from a number of different classes. They can then travel the game world, battling and capturing various beasts throughout the realm. Some beasts will be more useful for some things such as ground combat or quick travel, while others will be more useful for aerial combat and reaching hard-to-reach places.
There’s not much else shared in the press release about the new trailer and not much else in the trailer that talks about the game, but we can expect Nexon’s Riders of Icarus to head into open beta as a free-to-play MMO starting July 6th.
You can sign-up right now or purchase a Founder’s Pack to gain early access and some other benefits to the game by hitting up the official website. The feedback for the game so far from the gaming community has been mostly positive, so we’ll see if Nexon can maintain that positive outlook within the community leading up to open beta.
