Rogues Like Us is exactly as the name implies. It is a rogue-like, hack-and-slash action RPG, developed by Oddbyte Games.

The developers have recently started a Kickstarter campaign a few days ago, looking for funds to help them complete their project. One of the cool features about Rogues Like Us isn’t the characters or the NPCs you meet, but the weapons you find and the system put together to make them more powerful and grow.

The character you play will inevitably die, however their efforts won’t be in vain because all of the enemies you kill will go to feeding your weapon, and as a result, that weapon will become more powerful. The Swords are enchanted with a powerful magic that works as a Soul Conduit, feeding off of your life force and the life force of the enemies you slay.

Even if your Rogue dies, the next playthrough will allow you to use that weapon again to continue your journey, essentially meaning that you create a legacy with that one single weapon, and watch as it passes from one hand to the next as it becomes stronger.

Like most Rogue-like games, Rogues Like Us will have procedural dungeons that randomly generate to give you more content as you explore. Of course you will also be able to find more armor and weapons as you explore, which will potentially allow you to become stronger as time goes on. Rogues Like Us will also allow players to channel the soul energy inside their weapon for powerful Soul Blast, which will unleash that energy in a devastating area of effect style explosion around the player.
