Subnautica Update Adds Oculus Rift Support And Machinery Content

Those who like taking a deep dive in the vast ocean of Subnautica will find that they can now take it first-person with official Oculus support, which tags along with new updates changing the machinery in the game.

Unknown Worlds is right back at it again, this time with two significant updates that allow players to get a good first-person view of Subnuatica. Now supporting Oculus integration, the deep-sea of the strangely inhabited planet can now be viewed from the player’s very own eyes. I bet the experience would be pretty cool, except when you lose your apatite. Anyways, you can check out the announcement and the screenshot for it below.

Subnautica update 2

“A new Subnautica update is available on Steam! The Oculus Update brings support for Oculus Rift SDK 1.3, which is a nerdy way of saying: You can play Subnautica on your Oculus Rift right now! If you already own Subnautica on Steam, it is not necessary to buy again on Oculus Home.”

Up next is the update to the machinery in the game. This changes the Map Scanner room, which now allows for it to scan nearby seafloor, increasing the chances of finding specific array of resources. Joining the scanner is two exterior cameras that can be piloted remotely.

Speaking of viewing things with cameras, the Cyclops received a massive overhaul that improves the proximity sensor, with an added camera in the hull. Other features worth mentioning are the Bio Reactor and Nuclear Reactors becoming an option. These stations will now call for specific resources to function, and can only be placed in a Multi-Purpose Room.

It’s worth noting that the update brings much more little updates to the game than listed above, and goes on for pages. This, I’m sure, will bring Subnautica fans an ocean full of content to swim through, which you can read by visiting the Machinery page or Oculus update.

Subnautica is out now for PC and coming sometime this year to the Xbox One, and currently includes the listed updates above plus more. For more information on this game, you can hit up unknownworlds.com.
