Catching wind from Gematsu, Koei Tecmo has taken to its official website and updated it with more info detailing the story, characters and monsters in Toukiden 2. A playable demo for the game is also set to launch on May 24th, which the actual game will be due out over in Japan on July 28th, for the PS Vita, PS3 and PS4.
Hitting the scene with a plethora of screenshots, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s upcoming game Toukiden 2 has something new for fans to drool over. But, before jumping into the pool of pictures, there’s some new information regarding the world of the second game.
Thanks to Gematsu and Koei Tecmo elaborating on the story for the second entry, we find that during the time of the Meiji era, the world was destroyed in the Awakening. This is where the evil spirits of the rivers and mountains start to swallow the world. We also learn that an Oni appeared in the lands to the far north and overran the inhabitants of humans.
Set to defend all of this are warriors called Slayers. Deployed to stop the Oni, while defending the city of Yokohama, a giant Oni came down from the sky and the single Slayer was drifted into the Oni Gate that opened. Ten years after such, the Slayer has lost his memory and washes up in Mahoroba Village.
Looking way from the story and to the screenshots, more creatures like the Daibatachi, and the Guhin are revealed, as well as new characters like the merciless vice commander Manadzuru, and commander officer Touya — who leads the samurai.
A playable demo will be out for those who can’t wait to play, which will be available for PS4 and PS Vita players, and will launch May 24th. As for the official launch, Toukiden 2 is set to come out in Japan on July 28th. No western date has been released yet.
