Finding quality games on mobile devices is about as difficult as finding a sane person with a gender studies degree. Developer Infinity Vector wants to raise the bar when it comes to quality mobile games, unleashing Assoluto Racing on the Android and iOS smart devices for free.
They sent out a press release indicating that the game is powered by in-app purchases, but puts a majority of its focus on solid racing with realistic cars, semi-realistic physics, and support for customization, tuning and easy to pick-up controls.
Surprisingly, the game looks pretty good on mobile devices, it’s almost equivalent to the OG Xbox version of Forza Motorsport. You can check out the near two minute video below featuring a Nissan Silvia S15 Drift taking a spin around the Forest Path.
At the 40 second mark it appears as if some of the background either failed to render or they forgot to put the wallpaper of trees up on that section of the track.
While the game looks good running here in this instance – clean graphics, decent shadowing, passable reflections and solid resolution – the game fares far worse running on real Android hardware. You can check out the 10 minute video below from YouTube outlet Android For Kids Weekly, which gives you a look at Assoluto Racing being just way too much for the Android-powered smartphone. The device struggles to maintain frame-rate consistency.
The sound in the original promotional video is sport-on. The exhaust whistling from the turbo sounds beastly, and the backfiring is righteous. The second video has a more “honest” take on what the game sounds like if you don’t have headphones plugged in and it’s kind of abysmal. So let this be a lesson to you: if you play Assoluto Racing, make sure you play with headphones.
The game is available right now for download in English, Spanish, French, German, Korean and Japanese. They have plans on releasing a patch with simplified and traditional Chinese as well.
You can learn more about Assoluto Racing or grab a free copy of the game from the iTunes App Store or the Google Play store.
