If you’ve seen the first Dead Rising movie, based loosely on the game with the same name, then you might be pleased to know that there’s a second movie coming exclusively to Crackle on June 20th.
The game-based movie was recently tweeted out by Capcom, who actually seems somewhat proud of the title. Then again they also seem kind of proud of those Resident Evil movies, even though that’s the kind of thing you hide on your resume when people ask you what happened to your career between those years. You just don’t talk about those things.
Anyway, the trailer for Dead Rising: Endgame is better than it has any right to be. Starring Jesse Metcalfe – who got his rise to fame through Desperate Housewives – he returns to battle some zombies and confront the former President of the show 24… Dennis Haysbert. You can check out the trailer below.
I have to be honest, I was hoping there would be some hints about the whereabouts of Keegan Connor Tracy’s character, Jordan. Not going to spoil anything for those of you who haven’t seen Dead Rising: Watchtower but hopefully we get some answers in Dead Rising: Endgame. Meghan Ory’s turn as Crystal seems to have been a one-movie deal. The trailer appears to focus on the budding relationship between Jesse’s character and The 100 native, Marie Avgeropoulos, as they survive through the zombie hordes. I’m sure maybe they’ll explain what happened to Crystal and Jordan… right? Bah, who am I kidding? This is a made for DVD movie… no one’s going to care.
Anyway, apparently the first movie did well enough to warrant a second one. In the meantime Dead Rising the game has been on hiatus since Dead Rising 3 released for the new-gen home consoles and PC.
I guess if you’re tired of playing the game you can watch the movies. The first Dead Rising: Watchtower is available right now. The second one will be available for instant-streaming come June 20th later this month on Crackle.com.
