XSeed Games and Marvelous Entertainment went on a tear during the final days of E3, pumping out all sorts of media assets and content to help get gamers geeked for their upcoming line-up of titles that span the likes of multiple consoles and platforms, including their new farming and life simulator, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns.
The game is set to release in the West for the Nintendo 3DS. XSeed lobbed out a practically bare-bones fact sheet that only explains the practical essentials and core gameplay mechanics for the upcoming RPG simulator.
The press release stated that this newest entry is part of the 20th anniversary celebration for Natsume’s Harvest Moon franchise, known as Bokujo Monogatari in Japan. Here in the West the name was altered within the past few years to Story of Seasons.
The upcoming game features the ability to play as either male or female characters, and the object is to build up the farm, maintain the homestead and find some romance. Both male and female suitors will be scattered throughout the town, giving players plenty of options when it comes to friendships, courtships and marriage.
Customization and a variety of gameplay options will also make a return, including being able to farm, customize your house with a wide array of furniture, along with being able to stay healthy and fed by going fishing. You can see some of the activities that you can partake in with the E3 2016 trailer below, courtesy of Nintendo Everything.
One of the other features they’ve implemented is the more home-life, casual camaraderie that players can utilize by doing things like sitting down and having an afternoon meal with the residents of the town, or leisurely hanging out and having a good time to build up a rapport with certain townsfolk. The game reminds me a little bit of Animal Crossing in that regard.
They don’t mention a release date in the trailer nor do they mention a release date in the press release. However, you can likely expect the game to arrive sometime in 2016… and if not 2016 then 2017. Anyway, you can attempt to stay abreast of news surrounding Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns by visiting the official XSeed Games website.
