GameStop mistakenly let some posters loose of Injustice 2, the upcoming game for the current generation of video game platforms. If it feels like you missed the entire step of Injustice 2 being announced, you’re not alone. In fact, this is the first time we’ve heard anything about Injustice 2, the sequel to the 2013 fighting game for home consoles and PC.
Game Informer reported on two separate images of the leaked poster, one of which gives gamers a clear look at an armored up Batman with kryptonite running through his suit going head-to-head against The Flash.
The image has a tagline that states “Every Battle Defines You”.
The poster makes it hard to tell why Flash and Batman are fighting, but I wonder if they’re going to run with the storyline of Batman being the bad guy this time around? DC seems to be on a rather disturbing fixation with grim-darking Superman as of late, and it makes it hard to appreciate their stuff when the one happy-go-lucky hero they have keeps getting butt-blasted by the dark side. Heck, between the two characters, Batman always seemed like the kind that would go anti-hero, vigilante-villain before Superman.
Near the end of the animated series run back in the 1990s, there was a pretty obvious plot-line following Batman’s descent into the blurred line of vigilantism, which ultimately drove an irreparable wedge between him and Dick. Exploring the possibility of a villain-tier Batman who goes around wearing kryptonite armor seems like a fairly logical step.
Anyway, Injustice 2 arrives at a time where DC is rebooting the universe once again using their Rebirth line. The New 52 era has ended, much to everyone’s delight, so we’ll see what NetherRealm gets to work with in the upcoming Injustice title.
Speaking of NetherRealm Studios, studio head Ed Boon was not too pleased with GameStop clumsily having the posters leaked. Ed Boon’s response was to jokingly take a jab at the retailer, posting up the following image on his Twitter account.

I guess that pretty much confirms that the leak is true, eh?
Expect to learn more about Injustice 2 at this year’s E3, which gets underway next week. I’m having a hard time figuring out if Sony or Microsoft will pay to have Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment unveil the game during the Xbox press conference or the PlayStation press conference. I guess we just have to wait until next week, eh?
