What could be another potential hit like Heart Machine’s Hyper Light Drifter, comes Moonlighter by Digital Sun. The devs are located in Valencia, Spain, and seek to offer fans of games like the Legend of Zelda and other old school RPG adventures a nice pixelated taste of modern-day, retro gaming.
I think it’s safe to say that more decent games are finally hitting Steam Greenlight as of recent. What would usually take hours of sifting through garbage, comes a very beautiful Legend of Zelda like-game sitting right there at the forefront of Greenlight. I’m not sure if the devs are scammers since they are using the ever so often manipulated Kickstarter to back the project. But, from the looks of it though, the game is halfway to its goal, and it’s only been less than a day as of this writing.
In addition to this, it doesn’t mean that the devs aren’t able to pull a crafty card on us that could stand as an elaborate scam — which has been done before — but from the sounds of it they seem quite legit. Looking over to the positive and mechanical side of the game, folks will have to venture forth as a shopkeeper who looks to further his business. This can only be done by becoming a hero and traversing deadly dungeons to return with more gold and better loot for the town, all while saving the day…
“Moonlighter is a Action RPG with rogue-lite elements about Will, an adventurous shopkeeper, that secretly dreams of becoming a hero.”
“To earn the daily bread, he needs to venture into the dungeons near his town, defeat strange enemies and obtain loot to be sold at his shop. Wisely managing the gold from those sales is the only way he’ll get strong enough to risk into deeper gates and, maybe, open the sealed one.”
If that sounds exciting, you can watch the beautifully crafted indie game below, which shows a nice amount of gameplay and what players can expect from Moonlighter.
Moonlighter is set to also feature different dungeons that aren’t the same each playthrough, as well as a myriad of weapons, items, enemies and equipment. And yes, it will also feature a nice variety of hard bosses.
Looking over to its Kickstarter campaign, it currently has 1,085 backers, and $27,897 out of its goal of $40,000 as of this writing. Currently holding 31 days to go until completion, you can either head on over to Greenlight or Kickstarter to learn more.
