Star Wars: Battlefront June 21st Update Includes Lando Calrissian

DICE and Electronic Arts are attempting to capitalize on the E3 hype with the release of brand new content for Star Wars: Battlefront. The next major update will include the Bespin Cloud City map and a guest appearance from Lando Calrissian.

The update will include two brand new weapons, including the X8 Night Sniper and the EE-4 blaster. They’ve added new vehicles to the roster as well, including the Bespin cloud car. They showcase some of these new items in the update trailer, which you can check out below.

Can someone please get that man a Colt 45?

The update will also add the playable character of Dengar, in addition to a new game mode called Sabotage.

Dengar was such a lame character, but for some reason he seems perfectly suitable to appear on Cloud City. The map itself is gorgeously designed. The Frostbite 3 really pays a great deal of respect to the aesthetics of the Star Wars universe.

The map is reminiscent and a mixture of the two Bespin maps from Pandemic’s Star Wars: Battlefront games. It features the indoor segments, the city streets and the Bespin platforms, in addition to the carbon chamber where Darth Vader had Han Solo frozen.

All the fancy visuals, new maps and additional vehicles still can’t make this new Battlefront fun, but DICE is trying hard anyway. If they could just make it where getting into vehicles organically was a thing, and if they could make it where it was less power-up oriented, the game could have some tactical significance. But EA is chasing those casual dollars so a long-lasting experience for core gamers is not likely.

If you’ve already sold your soul and you’re a season pass holder you’ll be able to get your hands on the new update for free. Others will be forced to shell out coins from their digital wallets. Season pass owners can look to get their hands on the new Star Wars: Battlefront content starting June 21st.
