Being upfront and clear, I am not that fond of Fallout 4’s Workshop DLCs. Most are pretty base and shallow compared to what modders already have on NexusMods. However, if you are looking forward to another installment in the Workshop DLC series, Bethesda has the Vault-Tec iteration set to come out on July 26th.
Most people probably know that I’m not a huge fan of DLC, especially shallow DLC that’s barely expansive and provides the same amount of content that PC modders can whip up. However, if the DLC is well made, offers up decent and fresh content and is original, then I see no problem with it. Seeing as how the past Workshop DLCs for Fallout 4 were pretty shallow, my hopes for this one is quite low.
Those who aren’t like me and do fancy the Workshop series will find that Vault-Tec Workshop adds three new trophies, and new content to the base game. Jumping straight to the trophies, you can read their titles and learn how to get them thanks to Exophase:
- Oversight: Become an Overseer
- Better Living Underground: Unlock all build areas of Vault 88
- Vault Dweller: Equip Vault 88 suit and Pip-boy on a settler.
Looking over to the content in the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC, folks will find a special event that will take place when they reach level 20, or are already surpassed said level. A distress beacon will go off in the Commonwealth, alarming wastelanders to attend an emergency at Vault 88. I won’t go into full detail what will happen in the DLC, I’ll just leave it that a quest will start up soon after investigating the area.
Skipping ahead, the Vault-Tec DLC tests wastelanders on their leader skills to see if you are a strong leader, a tyrant, or you’re somewhere in between.
As noted by Bethesda, the quest is optional and does not insist that you have to complete it to explore other features in the DLC. However, the full thing will be unlocked if one chooses to see the event out to the end.
Lastly, there will be more tools, items, furniture, Vault-themed decorations, new experiments, Surgeon and Barber chairs to play around with, which the latter changes your appearance.
Fallout 4 is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Vault-Tec Workshop DLC is set to come out on July 26th, which you can learn more about by hitting up bethesda.net, or exophase.com.
