Four Last Things Is Like A Monty Python Skit With Renaissance Artwork

Four Last Things is a game mixed with the fine detail of Renaissance artwork and the quirky British humor of a Monty Python animated skit all rolled into one.

Indie developer Joe Richardson is the creator of this game, so you may be familiar with his work from his earlier point-and-click adventure that was successfully Greenlight called The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything.

Four Last things is a humorous adventure game about redemption…kind of — because our main hero has traveled long and far and has accidentally arrived at the wrong church, and all of the sins he has committed in the past are no longer considered valid in his current area, and the church will not recognize his past sins to grant him forgiveness. As a result, in order to receive the forgiveness he is seeking, he must first obtain a list of valid sins within the vicinity of the church so that he can be forgiven and go on to live an honest life.

And thus his journey begins, committing new sins so that he can finally make it to the final stage of his redemption process. The Four Last things that will be left is Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell. Players will go around pointing their mouse, clicking on things, talking to people, and committing a list of sins so that you can be judged.

The story, the art style and the comedy reminds me a lot of Monty Python’s The Life Of Brian and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The animation style is a cut and paste paper doll style, giving the game the look of a moving Renaissance painting in every scene, with a music soundtrack to match.

The developer has posted up a gameplay trailer video to give you a sneak peek at the game, so I linked it down below so you can see what Four Last things is like in game.

Originally, Four Last things was created for a Game Jolt developers Jam and was made in only two weeks, but developer Joe Richardson decided to hold a Kickstarter campaign to flesh it out into a full game. He is only asking for a modest amount of $4,000 USD. The campaign is already 38% funded and still has close to a month to go to reach his goal, so if you are interested in supporting his game you can follow the above link.

If you would like to play a little before you decide to throw money at his project, he has posted the Game Jolt prototype up for download to serve as a playable demo, just follow the provided link to visit the page and download the game.

Last but not least, Four Last things is up on Steam Greenlight looking for votes, so you can click on the link to learn more about the game.
