Ghost In The Shell: First Assault Graduates From Early Access On July 28th

Nexon and Neople announced that Ghost In The Shell: Standalone Complex – First Assault will be exiting Early Access and entering into open beta starting July 28th.

In the press release, they mention that they wanted to use the opportunity of Early Access to fix the game and iron out the kinks before entering into open beta…

“After working with fans throughout Early Access and implementing their feedback to help shape the game, Neople is now ready to introduce First Assault to a wider audience, as the developer continues to add and improve content. “

The game puts players in the role of Section 9 operatives, each with their own unique abilities and skills that they can employ during combat, ranging from invisibility to synchronized team kills. The game draws its visual inspiration and themes from the anime of the same name, which has been around for several decades.

The game has received a number of updates since first entering into Early Access back in the middle of December in 2015. The game has managed to rack up thousands of players since then and Neople have been adding new content and refining the gameplay since then. Just recently they held a live-stream on Twitch where they discussed where the game has gone and what they have planned for release on July 28th that you can check out below, if you’re interested.

The first-person shooter has received a lot of mixed reactions from fans since entering into Early Access. The biggest complaints are that First Assault mimics and mirrors the gameplay of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare far too much, which was also an issue that games like Genesis A.D and A.V.A. also suffered from.

Others are a little bit peeved that they paid for the Early Access only to receive the news that the game is going free-to-play.

Whether or not the new update with the new character Maven and the new hacking mode will win gamers back over remains to be seen, but starting next week Nexon and Neople will have a flood of new gamers to tend to when Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex – First Assault graduates from Early Access.
