Prepping for the release on August 9th next month, Hello Games released a new trailer for No Man’s Sky, one of the most highly anticipated games of the entire generation. The trailer convinces gamers that there will be 18 quintillion planets to discover on their journey to the center of the universe.
The trailer was posted up over on the PlayStation Blog, with Jason Sepielli from Sony Interactive Entertainment offering a short hype post shilling the game like the PlayStation 4’s life depended on it, even though it doesn’t. You can check out the trailer below, which showcases a lot of what you may have already seen from the game, but there are a few new creatures, planets and vehicles on display as well.
So we see a few new ships and cockpits that they advertise, giving the impression that there will be plenty of different vehicles to craft, commandeer and purchase in order to explore the 18 quintillion planets featured in the game. I imagine anyone who is a completionist and wants to visit every single planet in the game will have a hard time accomplishing that task in No Man’s Sky.
One of the things I do worry about with this game is any sort of pressure or insistence to keep playing. There aren’t many dangers seemingly present and it seems like if players don’t go out of their way to make enemies then you won’t really have much in the way of opposition unless you encounter other players.
We see some new planet plant life discoveries, as well as some giant underwater creatures that we haven’t seen before, such as a tentacle looking whale. Don’t worry, it’s not a Cthulhu looking beast… more like a friendly, black whale with one too many fins.
You can check out the game come August 9th for the PS4 and PC.
